Homework and school responsibilities can be quite tedious if not looked after. For this to happen smoothly the most important thing is to inculcate the importance of education in your children. You should explain them how homework and going to school will help them for their future. Though, children often don’t feel motivated since they are long term goals. They feel that how by just working on their homework will help them to achieve success?

Parents should be friendly enough with their children and should spend some time with them everyday. This will help the children to open up and share their experiences in school or with friends in school. Through this the parents come to know what the child does in school and whether he is facing any problem or not.

For parents it is necessary that they should first learn the homework policy in their child’s school. From this you will also come to know what is expected out of you as a parent. These days most schools conduct Parents-Teachers meeting on regular intervals. This helps the parents to be in touch with the current on-goings in the school. The teachers can explain the parents about their child’s performance and can also work in those areas where their children are lagging behind. This will help you to understand that where your child need assistance.

The parents should also be aware of the consequences if the children do not complete their homework. The teacher and student mutually decide between themselves about the task to be assigned for the day. It is the duty of the teacher to check whether the task given is accomplished or not. You as parents should not be disappointed if your child has to suffer due to his incomplete homework and is punished by the teacher.

But, parents should not be too severe on their children regarding their studies and homework. They should also be provided some extra time for extracurricular activities. Since ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’.
