There are so many factors which lead to single parenting. Also, many a times it is out of choice. People opt to become parents even if they are not committed or are in a steady relationship. Single parents of today are much more empowered and civilized as compared to before. Everybody has a picture of a family with two parents in their mind before having children. But, not everybody is blessed and lucky. There are many children who are raised by single parents. The role of single parent may be tough but it can be rewarding as well in some areas. However, certain effects are needed to be scrutinized. Single parenting not only has its effects on the children but also on the community and single parents themselves.
It is not that there are only negative effects of single parenting. They are always talked about. Let us highlight some positive effects which are less known to all. It has been observed that the children who are raised by a single parent share strong bonds with their parent in comparison with the kids who are raised by both the parents. They are always provided with extra attention and care by the society. Due to this they develop a stronger sense of community.
It becomes difficult to manage and balance your work life and also manage your house. But, the child’s need for emotional support from their parent shouldn’t be ignored. However busy the parent is, they should try to support their children financially and search ways through which they also can stay emotionally attached and connected to them.
Children who are raised by single parent and are financially capable then so much of effect is not seen on the children’s academic performance. The only reason being that they can spend their most of the time with their kids at home and keep a watch on their study habits.
Still, single parenting is difficult and it affects your children’s life no matter how well you plan it.
